Ranges

Please read all range rules before using facilities. Members and guests are responsible for following ALL rules at all times.

All Ranges

  • No fully automatic weapons permitted

  • All calibers except .50BMG permitted

  • No exploding targets or glass targets permitted

  • See range rules for allowable targets at each range

  • Hearing & Eye protection must be worn at all times

10 Yard Pistol

  • Targets Allowed: Paper only.

  • Fully covered shooting area with (5) shooting stations

  • Please sweep up ALL brass before leaving

25 Yard Pistol & Rifle

  • Targets Allowed: Paper targets; commercially manufactured reactive targets (NO ground targets)

  • Fully covered shooting area with (6) shooting stations

  • Please sweep up ALL brass before leaving

50 Yard Pistol & Rifle

  • Targets Allowed: Paper targets; commercially manufactured reactive targets, pop cans, metal spinners, plastic bottles/jugs etc., can be used when placed above the ground at a distance no greater than three (3) feet from the backstop. Members are responsible for cleaning up backstop area. NO GLASS ALLOWED.

  • Fully covered shooting area with (5) shooting stations

  • Please sweep up ALL brass before leaving

100 & 200 Yard Rifle Range

  • Targets Allowed: Paper targets; commercially manufactured reactive targets (NO ground targets)

  • Fully covered shooting area with (6) shooting stations

  • Please sweep up ALL brass before leaving

Trap

  • Targets Allowed: Clay pigeons only

  • (5) shooting stations

  • Members are responsible for cleaning up all spent casings

Range Rules​

EVERYONE must follow these range rules and practice safe firearm handling and use. Anyone cited for safety violations or for not following range rules may have their membership revoked and any unused portion of their dues forfeited.

  • ABSOLUTELY NO shooting before 9:00 a. m. or after SSC Range closing time.

  • AT NO TIME shall the use of alcohol or any other intoxicants, including either illegal or prescription drugs that may impair motor skills or cognitive abilities, or persons who are under the influence of these substances, be permitted on SSC premises.

  • NO fully-automatic firearms are permitted

  • NO firearms firing .50 caliber BMG ammunition is allowed at the SSC range.

  • ALL firearms must remain cased until you are at the firing line.

  • Firearms, including their muzzles, must be fired from inside covered firing points, unless an exception is granted by the Board of Directors.

  • Raise the large range flag at sign-in shed when occupying the range. Take the flag down if you are the last to leave the range.

  • The SSC Range Gate must be kept locked at all times.

  • Everyone using the range must make an entry in the logbook. Sign in and out including guests names.

  • All firearm muzzles must be kept pointed down range and the actions left open when not firing.

  • Glass containers as targets and all types of exploding targets are NOT allowed.

  • Attach target to the chicken wire so projectiles will not hit wood or metal supports.

  • When finished, dispose of targets and all other garbage. Return all range equipment to storage. Remove all used targets from SSC property upon departure.

  • On each shooting range, as a warning to others who may enter, small individual range flags or orange cones must be placed in front of shooting bench before going down range to place or remove targets or equipment.

  • All minors under the age of 18 are to be supervised by an adult. On the range they must wear ear and eye protection and remain behind the firing line except when checking targets with a supervising adult.

  • Pets must be kept behind the firing line and on a leash not to exceed six feet.

  • Persons using the range facilities MUST be current paid members. All guests must be in the company of a current paid member. Local law enforcement personnel are given free use of the range.

  • Members have precedence over guests in the use of all facilities. Two (2) guests per member MAXIMUM. (Immediate family members are not considered guests, but they must relinquish range space to any member.)

  • Anyone revealing the gate lock combination or loaning a membership card to a non-member will have their membership revoked and any unused portion of their dues forfeited.

  • Ask to see membership cards and identification of anyone using the range.

  • Firearms Safety training classes can reserve the range for training purposes by contacting the SSC Range Officer at least one month in advance of the event.

* Allowable Targets:

10 yard: Paper targets only.

25 yard: Paper targets and commercially manufactured reactive targets only.

50 yard: Paper targets, commercially manufactured reactive targets, (pop cans, metal spinners, plastic bottles/jugs, etc.) can be used when placed slightly above the ground at a distance not greater than three feet from the backstop.

100 & 200 yard: Paper targets, commercially manufactured hanging reactive targets (no ground targets).

Trap Range: Clay pigeons only.

All reactive targets MUST be placed within three (3) feet of the backstop and slightly elevated off the ground. Remember the chance of ricochet.

* Glass containers are NOT to be used as targets. NO exploding targets of ANY kind are allowed.

Please sweep up ALL brass before leaving (except for .17/.22 cal rimfire on the 50 yd only)
